Agriculture is a major livelihood in srilanka. From time immemorial ,people have been cultivating to meet their food need.Later,People developed economic activities and started cultivating crops and paddy. Crops are also grown for local market is often a recognizable feature in srilanka. Paddy cultivation is practiced in many parts of srilanka. Most of them are cultivated in the North Central province .It also cultivates crops such as brinjal ,okra,chillies ,tomatoes  ,pumpkins,cucumbers and maize.🍆🌶️🌽🍅And ,It also grows potatoes ,carrots ,leeks ,beets,cabbage and fruits in cold climates such as the central province.🥔🥕🥦Coconut cultivation can be seen in many areas including Kurunegala, Chilaw and Kuliyapitiya.🥥🌴

Paddy Cultivation is done in two seasons in year.Paddy cultivation in also done extensively in the polonnaruwa district where I live.🌾Below is the field we planted this time.The water from the lakes reaches the paddy fields through canals.Samba and Naadu paddy are mostly cultivated in our area.

Farmers are facing difficulties due to the lack of fertilizer in their cultivation activities this time.These crops are also damaged by wild elephants.Yields of many crops have also declined significantly this year.
